The Shannon Knights Inn is located in Shannon Town Centre in County Clare and was includes two public bars, a restaurant and nightclub. The brief called for an extensive external and internal refurbishment of all areas of the building. The works were carried out in stages so that normal trade could be carried out with minimal disruption.

The restaurant can be entered from the covered North Mall of the adjacent Shannon Town Shopping Centre. The very limited extent of external perimeter wall space meant that the use of natural ventilation was severely restricted. For example, the disco has no external walls and which placed a particularly high reliance on appropriate mechanical ventilation and air conditioning systems.

Improved kitchen and staff facilities were provided.

The introduction of the “no smoking” rule in public houses resulted in the need to covered external smoking areas which were accommodated by providing retractable roofs to the front entrance terraces on each side of the main entrance and to the rear terrace to the disco and restaurant.

The interior design was prepared by Paul Haffey Design as well as elevation treatment.

Mechanical and electrical installation were replaced and upgraded.

Maher Project Management directed the project on behalf of the Client.
